Growing as a photographer.
Like many things in my life, I inherited photography from my amazing father. My dad, who is an architect, gifted me his creativity and knack for design. My first experience with a camera was handling his 35mm camera from high school. With time, he taught me how to load and unload rolls of film, measure ISO, etc. I still use his camera to this day! It is a wonderful connection we share together. For me, photography is also an outlet, a way to document fleeting moments before they become past, and a way to imagine a more perfect future. With my academics being very technical, photography is an art form that grounds me in my creative roots.
Another thing about me is that I derive comfort and happiness from being around and interacting with people. As you may have seen on the Work page of my site, people are my favorite subject matter. Regardless of whether my subject is a close friend, or a stranger, I take joy in capturing the diversity in identities that populate our planet. Of course, given the current state of the world, it has been difficult to connect with others and be in close enough proximity to photograph them. That has certainly put a damper on my photo production abilities, but I am hoping that I will get a chance to photograph people soon.
I am currently using my dad’s 35mm. as well as a FujiFilm X-Pro 2. If you are interesting in having portraits taken, or working together, shoot me an email or see my Contact page. Here’s to a summer of growth, learning, and lots of photos!
Welcome.
Hi there! Thank you for finding me on the expansive world wide web. My name is Mimi and I’ve decided to make this my outlet. I am a college student studying Cognitive Science, which is conglomerate of subjects including Computer Science, Psychology, and Linguistics. My interests include coding, cooking, and (of course) photography! This summer I am determined to spend all of the free time I have, thanks to the global pandemic, to accomplish something proactive and exciting. Hence the creation of this personal website and blog, where I hope to share some commentary and thoughts with you. I would like to share some of my experiences thus far, as well as touching on current events. I apologize in advance for my ramblings—I have a feeling that this blog will end up like a Jackson Pollock painting, scattered and all-over-the-place!
Welcome to my world. It is certainly far from perfect, but I hope you will stay around.
